Latest Project: álà

KAR33M’s mind-bending Afrosoul LP ‘álà’ takes place in the psyche of its listeners. Lulled by the soothing sounds of the opener “Morpheus” (named after the god of sleep), the listener is welcomed into a dream world formed by their ancestors. Throughout each song, different messages about the current state of their reality are revealed while divided by some poetic interludes. The deeper into the surreal piece one ventures, the more knowledge is gained about the spellbinding pull toward self-actualization. At the end of the experience, the listener is left with two choices, to either do something with the wisdom they have received or move on and simply enjoy the sonic experience they have ingested.

A special thanks to the Ontario Arts Council and the City of Ottawa for funding and supporting the creation and recording of this project.
